Last week the Resilient Rivers Initiative, in partnership with Seqwater, Wildlife Queensland, Scenic Rim Regional Council and Healthy Land & Water delivered a workshop at Reynolds Creek, Moogerah Dam on how restoration can benefit both landholders and iconic species like platypus.
Attendees heard from Wildlife Queensland’s Platypus Watch on ways they can make their properties more platypus-friendly. Improving waterway condition through rehabilitation techniques such as erosion control and revegetation will reduce water pollution and assist in creating safe habitats and increasing biodiversity.
It’s a great example of how Resilient Rivers – an initiative of the Council of Mayors (SEQ) – is helping to deliver more for SEQ’s catchments through stronger collaboration, cooperation and coordination.
