Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann last week joined the Black Snake Creek project team planting 10,000 trees and shrubs in an effort to boost water quality and reduce erosion.
The planting was the latest Resilient Rivers Initiative works in the Black Snake Creek catchment aimed at enhancing riverbank vegetation and improving the quality of water flowing into the Brisbane River, the Mt Crosby treatment plant and ultimately Moreton Bay.
Resilient Rivers is an initiative of the Council of Mayors (SEQ), providing a coordinated cross-council approach to catchment investment to keep soil out of our rivers and on the land.
