Thanks to the volunteers who helped to plant more than 750 native trees on Voluntary Home Buy-Back (VHBB) land adjacent to Lions Park, Lower Tenthill on Sunday. The planting was a Resilient Rivers Initiative project aimed at improving flood resilience, biodiversity and the health of Lockyer Creek and Moreton Bay in partnership with Greening Australia and Lockyer Valley Regional Council.
The event saw a mix of 44 native species of trees and shrubs planted, which will now be cared for as they take root and form new koala habitat and improve flood resilience and erosion control. This site creates an essential connection to other Resilient Rivers revegetation project sites downstream.
We are proud to support this event through the Resilient Rivers Initiative helping to restore endangered ecosystems and support the health and resilience of our environment.
Working with the community is key to waterways and wetlands rehabilitation – improving spaces like this will pave the way for greener, wilder, and healthier spaces for all to enjoy, making SEQ a better place to live both now and for generations to come.
Thank you to all who participated including the Yugara Dancers who Welcomed us to Country and warmed us up for the planting. Let’s continue working together for our region.
